I used to stay here when it was Barcelona courts. It looks the same, except they removed that beautiful Spanish tile with the little dog paw prints, that was a joy when you found one. So let’s start there. The interior of the hotel is really nice and unique with all the plants, waterfalls and fish pond. The pool and hot tub were clean, had plenty of towels. The bar served generous sized drinks. Friendly staff.
The breakfast bar was amazing. The service exceptional.
Every employee we encountered was very friendly and helpful.
I gave the location five stars even though it’s close to the loop, we honestly could not hear the traffic outside. It’s also very close to the mall and just about any where you want to eat.
Now let’s get to the rooms. Horrible. It reeked of dog urine that you could smell from the outside before we even opened the door. Inside, it was even worse and also had a damp musty odor.
We found an area that looked as if they had cut a hole in the wall and tried to cover it back up with the same wallpaper. It has mold on the outside of where they cut the wall. The baseboard below it was all warped. I’m sure there had been a leak. We could not switch rooms because they were 100% booked and since we were only there one night, we decided to stick it out.
I coughed all night, my eyes burned, and I was miserable until we left there. I cleared up soon after we left.
One key card quit working three different times. Every time I went back, they just reloaded the same card until I finally told them do not give me that card back. I want a brand new card. The new card worked from then on. So just the inconvenience of having to continue to go back for that was annoying.
One thing I did not enjoy was seeing a man at the breakfast bar with his dog in his arms. No one said anything to him either. I don’t know, just not my thing to have pets in a food area.
