Hotel was recently updated, staff seem to be still trying to figure it out. Located right next to the interstate, you will hear it all night long.

The room was clean and new and the bed was comfortable and the pillows super soft! It was also quiet. Just asked for rooms away from the interstate.

If you want sleep, DON'T stay here. First off is right by the freeway. Ok, that's somewhat normal, but the windows have zero sound damper. So loud! Then you can here the floor above you and the hallway sounds as well. But hey maybe you're a heavy sleeper and use ear plugs. Still the mattress is like sleeping on concrete. Aside from being overly firm, they don't put much bedding on it so you have 1 not even fitted sheet and a sweat guard that doesn't cover the whole mattress separating you from who knows how many others dna. Again, only stay here if you don't like to sleep.

Very nice place in Downtown BHM. The hotel is doing renovations so the original entrance is closed. Their beds are the best and staff is extremely helpful.

This hotel is being misrepresented as a luxury full service hotel.I understand that hotels go through renovations, however I expect that to be disclosed or the rate reflect a lower quality experience. The website lists (as 99% of Sheratons') as having a restaurant at best that's an exaggeration. The restaurant is only only for breakfast. There is a nearby (200 yards away) chop house at their sister Westin location. The breakfast is misleading... they only offer a buffet (upgraded vs a Hampton Inn) but they want customers to prepay. Okay I can even get past that, except that when a girls volleyball tournament occupied 30% of the hotel and I waited in line 30 minutes to be able to get in. This wasn't because they didn't have enough food or open tables. They only had a single cashier ringing up one high school girl at a time to allow them access to eat. I guarantee, a better process could be designed if they cared about their customers. When I addressed this to the front desk i was told "we are a convention hotel and this is normal for us."Got it!! Thoughtless, uncaring and bad service for their guests.Maybe just disclose these things when I make a reservation "we make no claims of thoughtful or timely service" then I could tolerate crap.Roms are newer, but very cheap quality design. The hotel is old with some random renovations occurring around the hotel. GREAT LOCATION.

Hotel is still under a heavy renovation with a relocated check in desk and main lobby closed.Warning-the highway noise is loud, all day and non stop. While the renovated rooms are pretty the single pane of glass and proximity of the highway means constant noise. We checked out early.Lastly the don’t quite say in their website but they do NOT have a club lounge

This hotel is complete garbage!1. Tv doesn’t work. Sent some smelly curmudgeon to fix the A/C. * Never got it working.2. No card swipe on the elevator but goes out of their way to refuse DoorDash delivery.3. Valet lost my car. Took over 90 mins. Missed my first meeting and late for the rest.4. Asked to speak with a manager…no one on duty (of course).5. Asked for a call back, never got one.And to top it all off, they don’t ever put out coffee in the morning!Complete incompetence!

The 1- star review was hard to give but absolutely warranted, deservedly or otherwise.Room was pretty good, bed fine, okay shower, mini-fridge, etc. Staff were pleasant, check-in and check- out all good.Issue here is noise. The highway noise is so loud it sounds like windows are open. I had to check twice to make there wasn't an open window. You hear every vehicle that passes by and when the morning rush hour starts it wakes you up.The other noise issue is from the hallway or any connecting rooms. I could hear people in other rooms like they were right outside my door. The people in connecting room ran their blow dryer all night (maybe trying to create white noise?). The gap under the door leading into the hallway large enough to be able to look under and see if anyone was approaching the door.Ultimately I wouldn't stay at this hotel again until I knew the noise issues were resolved. When trailing I want to be tested, not woken all through the night and early morning.Once I knew the noise was solved would gladly stay here again.

I was a bit nervous after reading the reviews, but my stay was exceptional.Every single staff member I came across was lovely. From the reception team, to the breakfast restaurant team, to the man who brought me my package from the mail room! All just incredibly hospitable and warm and professional.Speaking of the breakfast, it was absolutely delicious. I honestly wished I could have had it the next day as well! It’s a bit pricey, at $19, but it is a buffet and it is, after all, a hotel restaurant. Pricey is expected.Lastly, my room was great. It was spotless, and I’m a clean freak. It’s also clear there has been a fairly recent renovation because the rooms have a very modern aesthetic. I was quite comfortable the whole time.Overall a great stay!

Stayed two nights for a venue at the Conference Center. Nice hotel, rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast buffet was a good value. Lots of dining options within 100 yards. Read a lot of bad reviews so we were nervous, we didn’t experience anything bad during our stay.

Unless you’re being paid very handsomely, don’t stay anywhere near here. Even then, please reconsider your options. Bottom 3 city I’ve ever visited- and I’ve been to third world countries with more hospitality. To top off my stay here, false alarms went off at 3 in the morning, with no explanation what happened. (Completely clueless night crew tonight?) no overnight manager. Who knows. To be completely fair, there were a few positive notes:Front desk staff was very nice at face value with the short interactions I had with them during the day.Banquet staff/management was easy to work with and very accommodating.Housekeeping is the saving grace if you can speak Spanish. They will take care of you. Very clean room, and nothing was broken in my room thankfully.Eugene’s Chicken around the corner is too good of a place for this city. They deserve much better. A true diamond in the rough.

I would like to give a personal review of our stay at your hotel in Birmingham, Alabama this weekend. First…. The hotel was immaculate and beautiful to include the rooftop bar. I loved the details in the room and outside of the room, even the valet was spectacular. Now for the bad part. The bartenders in the rooftop were amazing. They were quick and the drinks were great. The cook on the other hand was late and seemed as if he needed some help with the orders. In addition, the menu had limited options.Secondly, the restaurant inside wasn’t much better. It seemed like an upscale place, but the workers were not trained to be upscale. Breakfast food was good, but the workers made the place seem a bit low budget. In all, the hotel stay was good except for those 2 issues.

Beautiful hotel. The room was clean. The staff was less than friendly or helpful. Parking/Valet is not an easy process. My daughter and I were traveling with our dog and we had a lot of bags and there was no help or carts. Disappointing- worst Marriot stay ever

10/31/2024 - 11/1/2024Highly disappointing experience. Especially being that I travel frequently and I’m a loyal customer with Marriott to the point I have Ambassador Elite Status. I’m from Birmingham and I visit numerous times throughout month. Not many nice places to choose from here so I chose Elyton. I booked for Halloween night. Ironically it seems as if every time I check in here(only place this ever happens) the heavy set African American woman complicates things or makes things difficult for no apparent reason. Going out of her way to prevent check in. It’s happened before but this time is extremely unacceptable, I arrived at the time that I selected on my bonvoy mobile app, being that it was Halloween night and I was traveling to Birmingham from Florida, I selected a typically later than usual check in but it was before hotels nightly audit. Upon my arrival no one was in lobby. After waiting a few minutes , she appears greeting me asking how can she help me. I politely told her I was checking in. Immediately after she advise me that she couldn’t do anything because “her system is down temporarily “ and that she would need the “tech team” (second time she’s said this, the previous time she said the same exact thing took her time and finally checked me in). I waited 2 hours in car before walking back in just to give it time. I was turned down with no resolution. Being lied to saying system was down and nothing could be done but the whole time people were being checked out with the same system that was “down”. Its a shame a place with great decorum has to be represented so poorly. AVOID THIS LADY AT ALL COST, I will comment her name under this review..

Nice hotel old building rooms are laid out different than other hotels but they are nice. Ladies at the service desk are helpful and friendly. Valet parking is good billing is different that’s for sure. Hotel is simply in the wrong area. Bham can be a great city but it is dangerous. We noticed no cops anywhere to be seen gangs running the streets. Its what you have in Chicago just a smaller version of it. We will go back but we will stay at another marriot property south of the city. Highly recommend going to bottegas.

When we arrived in the lobby, the hotel was hot and muggy throughout. After walking up to our room, we had to make an extra trip back to the front desk because they failed to inform us about the master switch needed to turn on all the lights. We ordered drinks to our room twice, but during the second call, the service was terrible. The woman on the phone was rude, with a bad attitude, and hung up abruptly without any hospitality. We've stayed at the Hyatt Regency, which is much cheaper, and had a far better experience. While this hotel is aesthetically pleasing, the service simply does not meet the standard for the price we paid.

I really enjoyed my time at the Elyton. Cleopatra checked us in and was kind and I really appreciate Latina. Latina was so helpful when I called with 2 questions. She went above and beyond to take care of what I asked about.I'm so sad I didn't catch his name but our valet guy (black, middle age, super funny) was such a joy.I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again whenever we're in town!

Great place to stay. Clean rooms, friendly hotel staff, the young lady who cleaned our room was a charm and made us feel welcome. I love this place, but I don't understand why the coffee was taken out of the lobby. For the price you pay, they should offer free coffee. Every hotel I have ever visited has coffee in the lobby.
