Whether it’s your first time at a B&B, or you’ve experienced many different B&Bs, you will be impressed with E.J. Bowman Houuse. Scott and Diane’s warmth and hospitality set a high bar for others. Every morning, Scott makes a delicious gourmet breakfast, and he is even willing to share his recipes! Once they have finished serving, they will join their guests, have a cup of coffee and share in conversation. They are wealth of knowledge about the area, and can recommend great places to eat and visit!
The rooms are clean and spacious. And
although the Inn is close to the road, and there is occasionally some traffic noise, it’s forgotten with all the other positive things you’ll experience during your stay. They have a beautiful backyard garden - a lovely place to relax after touring or dining out. We highly recommend staying there if you’re visiting the Amish country in Lancaster!
One tip I can give you is if you are going to have brunch on a holiday get your reservation in early. Just by staying there does not guarantee you a spot. We were lucky that Nicole was able to squeeze us in. Another reason to stay here, they really do try to accommodate.

We had a reservation for Sunday-Monday. Saturday evening (a few hours before our trip) I received an email that my reservation was canceled. I immediately panicked and called the front desk about it. They told me that someone called a little earlier with my reservation number and canceled my room. I assured them it was not me and we still needed the room. They reinstated the reservation and assured me all would be good. Fast forward to Sunday. We arrive pretty early and check to see if any rooms are ready. We were told no, but we would most likely get in a room around 2pm and they would ask house keeping to clean our room first. We decided to go swimming to kill time. The indoor “heated” pool was freezing. It’s now 3pm and the room still isn’t ready. Yet we watched another family check in after us (with the same type of room- yes we talked in the pool area) and they were given their room right away. Staff called us (and many others) at 4pm on the dot. Frustrated that they clearly had rooms ready but turned us away until the exact check in time. The room was pretty outdated and left a lot to be desired. The bathroom door lock kept getting stuck and we got locked out of the bathroom multiple times. Kids running and screaming up and down the hallway past 10pm which was obnoxious. Fast forward to Monday, check out. I’m given an invoice which charged me a cancellation fee for the hotel’s mistake and canceling my reservation instead of someone else’s the day before. I had to talk to 3 people to finally get it removed, and the worst part is they kept accusing me of calling the day before and cancelling due to Covid. I never called and obviously needed a hotel room since I was there! Overall, the staff was pretty rude, rooms outdated and hotel itself was disappointing.
