I am a huge Marriott loyalist with 38 nights this year. This is by far the most disappointing, unsafe, and inhospitable property I have visited. After traveling all day, I show up to a property on lock down surrounded by homeless people sleeping around the doors. I understand to lock the doors for safety, but no one is there to let in new guests. After waiting awhile and scared, I have to drag all my luggage, alone, over homeless people, around two blocks to find another entrance. I’m hungry and thirsty. No market. Nothing to eat or drink. Unhappy desk agent. Room with warm bottle of water. The rates for this hotel are far too high for it to be this unsafe, this inhospitable. I email these complains on the app about first impressions, and get this response that they don’t control the rates. It was really off putting. I can’t wait to check out of here. So sad this is how they treat Marriott guests who are visiting their sick relatives during difficult times.
UPDATE: I was contacted by management the next day. I was informed that because I had platinum elite status, I should have been told upon check-in of a 24 hour lounge where I could have had access to food & drinks, and free breakfast. I wasn’t. When I was contacted by management the next morning, I was at breakfast with a $30 bill on my table for the breakfast buffet, after being told by the restaurant I did not have breakfast included, when indeed I should have. Management told me I could get a free dinner at the Marriott restaurant that night. When I went there, they had no record of it, but comped my dinner anyways, saying they “believed my story”. I don’t want to beg for free anything, but I was told I would have a free dinner. All around disappointing.
