Absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I would love to be able to describe the rooms and facilities, unfortunately I never got the chance.
I travel extensively and I had planned a trip to Columbus with my wife for a special occasion. We much prefer to stay at historic B&Bs for getaways like this, and the Rothschild-Pound House looked like a great choice. Most hotels were booked in town (which maybe should have been a clue as to how there was an available room here).
On July 1st, I made a reservation for the 12th at which point my credit card was promptly charged the full amount. The day before I was to arrive, I received a phone message at 6:30am stating that they were having the floors redone and would be cancelling my reservation. I'm not sure how they didn't realize they'd be having the floors done that day until 24 hours beforehand and nowhere on their website or in any correspondence is there a mention of renovations.
Their own policy, if I had tried to cancel my reservation, is "Cancelation must be made 14 days in advance of the check-in date. If canceled after that, a 50% credit will be offered for a future stay."
I returned the call to see how they would offer to make this right on such short notice and it went straight to voicemail. 6 hours later, I received a call-back from Mamie Pound. Her advice was for me to book at another hotel in Columbus and offered to give me the phone number of the Columbus Marriot. Less than helpful, to say the least. Not even an offer of a 50% credit off of a future stay as per their own policy (not that I would ever actually consider staying here in the future). When I stated the facts back to her, she became very defensive and accused me of arguing with her. (You can see all of the other reviews on-line regarding the owner’s defensiveness.) I was in the middle of asking another question when she simply hung up on me. Extremely unprofessional, rude, and no way to build customer goodwill. As of this writing, my credit card still has not been refunded.
My advice, if you are traveling to Columbus, is to book your stay elsewhere than at the Rothschild-Pound House. I was forced to.

This was a disappointing experience, especially considering this was a special trip to see a family member in RS. The room was not ready upon check in, and the owner asked us to come back later. When we came back, we found out the room we booked was not available, and instead a small room with one bed was offered. We had been traveling all day and my phone was dead, so I made the mistake of staying. The services listed, like champagne and breakfast, are not available. Our room didn't have a functional bathroom door, and we left as soon as we could.
When I let the owner know my dissatisfaction she responded with the message below and also stated if I had a problem, to take it up with my credit card company. You got it lady.

We got married here on new years day 2023!!! Everything turned out perfectly. We planned this wedding in 11 days and I couldn't have been happier on the way it turned out. We had our ceremony in the courtyard and it's so beautiful out there. Seriously magical fairytale feels. Our pictures were perfect and everything was so beautiful. Mammie was so sweet and there every step of the way on the big day. The house was beautiful and definitely gives a true historical feel.

While this is our very first bed and breakfast we have nothing to compare an experience to. We found the owner Mamie Pound to be extremely pleasant and courteous. We thoroughly enjoyed the old victorian style home inside and out. Breakfast was good served outside on the wrap around porch. So as we read other not so flattering reviews our experience was quite pleasant and wouldn't not hesitate if the need should arise to be in Columbus again.
To change the subject if your in town for the white water rafting do not fail to ask about the water level before you book. We booked 11:00 am today it was a low water level experience to which we got a refund because we had to get back to Knoxville by this evening.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Rothschild- Pound House. We stayed in the Governor Forsyth suite which was quite unusual and special. The jacuzzi was wonderful, we loved that kitty soap, and the bed and pillows were so comfortable! We appreciated how responsive Mamie, the owner, was to our needs and how she worked with us to address any concerns that came up. She is currently in the process of remodeling the main house so you might be aware that there is not a full breakfast at this time. However, she gave us the choice of a continental breakfast or a voucher to go buy breakfast on our own. Thank you, Mamie, for sharing your lovely home with us. We hope to come again.

What a gem of a place. A beautiful house nestled in the heart of the Columbus historic district. Within walking distance to downtown and overflowing with charm. My girlfriend and I wanted a romantic getaway and our expectations were exceeded. The owner was very knowledgeable of the area and welcoming to us, From the moment we entered the sun filled cottage we were staying in we knew we had made a great choice. This is a family owned, family run business and the passion really shows. For anyone looking to enhance their stay in Columbus, I would highly recommend.

On 11/25/25 I was staying at the hotel i booked with Hilton using a specific card to hold my room . I told them I would use a different card upon arrival. My card was ran prior to my arrival. Once I arrived the clerk explained why it happened. I gave her card I wanted her to use. After check-in the hotel ran my previous card again causing me a overdraft fee. At check-in the card I told them to use was ran a total of 6 times. We were told we had nothing to worry about nothing charged our system is having a problem. If anything does we will correct it. After the 7th time it went through. The next day our statement showed we were charged twice for same room and a additional $75 dollars charge for something no one knows. Because the hotel hold is only $50 which we were told was waived due to inconvenience. So let's recap two overdraft on one card charged twice on our other card and a additional $75 charge. Close to a $500 problem. Heather the asst. Manager offered us points to equal a free night stay those points we never got. I am pissed. I told them that a night was not sufficient to what was caused. This problem is still not fixed as of 11/30/25. Im a rewards member and this is how im treated. At this point we are considering legal action again Hampton Inn and Hilton. The next day when I came to get the matter handled another guest going through a similar problem was out about $1000 dollars. I want the money owed and proper compensation.

I stayed a few weeks ago at Northside Hampton Inn Columbus Ga. The room I requested was 2 Queen beds. The beds were great. The bathroom was the problem. The commode was so low to the ground I could hardly get off of it. No rails. It had a walk in shower.
My visit this week I requested a handicap so the bathroom would have a higher commode. It did but no step in shower - a bathtub with a shower head that was hard to figure out how to work. The beds were so low to the floor that it was hard to get off of. It was a no win situation for me. Think changes need to be made.

This past Summer I started coming to Columbus on a regular basis during the week for work. I wanted a nice, clean comfortable room but that wasn't too expensive that I could become a regular.

I stayed a few places and they were about what you would expect. Not bad, not great.

The Hampton North was a welcomed change. From the moment I walked in the first time the front desk crew were welcoming. Even after a dozen trips now, they are still just as nice and welcoming when I come in from a long day.

I sometimes do meetings in the lobby area during the day which is great until they put out the warm cookies in the afternoon and then it becomes hard to concentrate.

I dont eat breakfast so I cannot really comment on that but the room is nice and modern. They have glass showers which I prefer (do hotels really clean shower curtains? Gross) The internet is always stable enough for my Zoom meetings so I can leave my hotspot in my bag.

If I had to find one thing negative to say, it seemed to take longer for them to repair one of the elevators than it should some weeks ago. There was a few trips where I had to wait a few minutes for each elevator ride but it has been fixed for a while now and is no longer an issue.

All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through Columbus once or on a regular basis.

For how much I paid, the breakfast could be better. I recently stayed at another Hampton location and the breakfast had much more selection, and I even paid less for the room. The rooms and everything else was nice.

The newly renovated hotel is very clean and nice but has the worst internet in any hotel I've been to in a long time.

We travel quite a bit for work and having fast internet is paramount for us to complete work, perform research, and download large patches for our customers. I was situated on the top floor of the hotel and had fair connection to the wireless access points, but see my attached screenshots of the speed tests; one from my phone on 5G and another of the hotel for comparison.

This was a disappointing Hampton Inn for us. We made the reservation online and specifically put that we needed a crib for our 1yr old. When we checked in my wife asked about the crib and the lady at the desk said they don’t do cribs. We got in our room on the 2nd floor and it smelled horrible, like they had septic problems. The bed was nasty and dirty. They advertised breakfast but it was horrible. We came to see family in the area and we will definitely be staying somewhere else the next time.

They currently are doing some remodeling, which is great. However, it does appear that several areas are just being quickly done. One of the outlets wasn't even screwed in to anything so if you used it and went to unplug it the whole socket came off the wall. There is also something going on with the air in the rooms. Luckily I brought a fan, because without it I would have been sleeping in my car. As I was told there was nothing they could do, due to them being fully booked and they didn't have a maintenance person available. Also, don't expect to find a parking spot on the lot if you get there too late. The staff I encountered were courteous and nice. I do understand these things are out of the staffs control.

This was a disappointment for what Hampton Inn has for a reputation. The desk clerk was not personable. There was no parking so we had to park in another hotel's lot and walk back to ours. The amenities were meager and didn't offer much except a tiny fridge and coffee maker. I will not be returning to this hotel in any future visit. It makes me not trust using another Hampton Inn because I would be afraid it would be as bad. The lobby is under some kind of construction and made the entrance feel uninviting. I feel that I paid way too much for the room.

Meg & Gabby were the BEST they checked us in and gave us the most amazing service. I came here for the safety away from the hurricane with my family and I’ll tell you this was the best experience we have ever had in a hotel. The breakfast was phenomenal and the room was clean, service was so nice taking care of my pregnant wife with extra pillows they truly went above and beyond.

Construction is still a problem, as I saw in previous posts. No parking is available.
The front desk was slow, but cordial. The young lady assisting with breakfast was great!
But, if you need sleep, don’t let them put you on the 3rd floor. I checked in late and needed to sleep. However, I was put on the 3rd floor and the 4th floor is under renovation apparently. Hammering and drilling started at 8am! Ugh.
My room was very clean and comfortable. The AC worked, but not great (enough not to switch rooms, but not ice cold).
Mediocre experience due to parking and construction ongoing.
