Went to an event. Drinks were a different price inside the ballroom then at the regular bar. Don't understand how they are 2.00 more in the ballroom.

Wonderful experience! We were booked in a standard room with our two small kids because catching an early flight. When we arrived we were informed we were being upgraded to the presidential suite free of charge! One of the cleanest hotels I’ve stayed in! Wonderful service! Highly recommend!

We just got done with our wedding weekend where ourselves and our guests stayed. Everyone was so fabulous and the service was incredible! Amazing place to come back to, to relax, unwind, and gather with everyone. The restaurant is fabulous and the bar was the perfect addition to get everyone together for our social times.

I had the pleasure of staying at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center on Valentine’s Day, and it was truly an outstanding experience. From check-in to check-out, the service was exceptional—every staff member we encountered was professional, welcoming, and genuinely focused on making our stay enjoyable.

The hotel itself is absolutely elegant. The design, décor, and attention to detail create a refined yet comfortable atmosphere that makes a lasting impression. Our room was beautifully appointed—well-designed, spotless, and with thoughtful touches that added to the sense of luxury. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into maintaining both the hotel and the guest experience.

I’ve traveled the country extensively for business, staying in hundreds of hotels, and The Hotel at Kirkwood Center easily ranks in my top ten. It’s rare to find a place that gets so many things right—elegance, service, cleanliness, comfort, and overall atmosphere—all at the same time. What makes this even more remarkable is that the hotel serves as a real-world training ground for Kirkwood Community College’s Hospitality Arts students. Students work alongside seasoned professionals to refine their skills. This unique approach not only gives them invaluable hands-on experience but also ensures that guests receive top-tier hospitality at every level.

I’ve also had the chance to eat at The Class Act Restaurant in the past, and it never disappoints. The menu changes often, offering dishes I haven’t seen anywhere else in the area, and the quality of the food is always excellent. The pricing is more than fair, especially considering the level of creativity and execution in each dish.

The combination of luxury, professionalism, and an educational mission makes The Hotel at Kirkwood Center a truly special place. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again or recommend it to others.

Wonderful hotel. Rooms are great. Service is very hospitable. Beds are super comfy. They will help you with your bags if you ask. It's a teaching hotel run by the community college. It can give any of the big chains a run for their money. There isn't a microwave in the rooms, but don't let that deter you. You have access to one in the lobby.

Probably one of my worst hotel experiences ever. Went to checkin no one at front desk waited 20 minutes for an employee to show up literally no one working in the hotel. Bathroom was dirty including a leftover dirty washcloth from who knows when. Elevator smelled heavy of marijuana. This entire property is a disaster I’m surprised BW puts their name on it.

Terrible complete dump from last year. Fifty, ripped curtains, plumbing had to hold handle untilbowl emptied, floors clearly need shampooing, halls not vacuumed entire weekend we were there, gym, no one cleans, fridge wouldn't keep cold, called front desk got put on hold then told us would call back nothing.

Buyer Beware! We booked a room with 2 beds for 3 nights through a 3rd party booking agent. When we tried to check in, we were informed that our reservation came through wrong and a room with only 1 bed was reserved. There was "absolutely nothing" they could do to fix it. Finally after an hour of arguing at the front desk, we were allowed a room with 2 beds but only for an additional $30 per night. We were pretty much held hostage, after already paying for 3 nights (non-refundable) we couldn't walk away and start over somewhere else! Fortunately the room was much cleaner than the common areas, although bathroom was dingy. Breakfast was not worth the long walk. Left-over scrambled eggs DO NOT keep for the next day, you should not have to use a knife to cut them! Sketchy neighborhood, side door closest to our room was packed with smokers and empty beer bottles that were never cleaned up.

Stayed here on a trip from Connecticut to Vegas. The rooms were clean and accommodating. The breakfast was the best I've had so far! Staff was very friendly and kind. They even had a pool table and a hot tub. Great place!

Very nice gym, used to be a Golds Gym. The gym was well equipped and not busy. They also have a pool with whirlpool and a sauna.

Rooms don't get cleaned and restocked daily, so don't use all your towels day 1. Service was not friendly or helpful.

Nice breakfast in the morning.

Response to General Manager: Thanks for your public response, despite your lack of effort to contact me directly. I'll save you an investigation; the smell is mold. I added a picture of black mold from your hotel to my review for you to see. The city of Marion doesn't enforce mold problems (I checked), so you're safe until people start getting sick. I won't be back to any BW hotels, certainly not your musty petri dish. It's too bad that all the water in the air couldn't save the plants you forgot to water.

Original Review: We stayed in room 102. The room was a bit dated and crammed, but otherwise clean. The bed was nice. The gym and lounge area in the atrium are unique and kid-friendly. The gym is pretty cool.

The one star is for the bad deal and bad service. When we booked, we liked the photos of the hotel. I expected that the $130 to book a room with a queen bed would compete with a nice hotel like Marriott. It just doesn't live up to that. The hotel is kinda crummy and dated. The building smells like mildew and just isn't as nice as we expected. The room has a loud electric "humming" sound like a fusebox. About 10 minutes after checking in and walking around, I explained to the man at the front desk that I didn't like the hotel and asked if we could leave and get a refund. His answer was essentially "no way, just go outside to avoid the stinky areas." I just took the L and dealt with it.

The Holiday Inn down the street looked nice. There are a few other hotels in the area that offer nicer rooms and probably better service for like $30-40 less than this hotel.

We were looking for a few rooms for family to stay in while in Cedar Rapids for a funeral. We also needed a place where local family could gather for a time to share memories. Though we only reserved a couple rooms, Matt, the manager was very accommodating and offered us a conference room at no extra charge. I understand this was not their policy, but being a slow time he was more than happy to offer us a room. Everything was clean and comfortable.
