A pleasant hotel with a very "family-run" feel.

I had room 245 on 1st floor (nb there's no lift). Very nice room - spacious room, comfortable king bed, good TV, tea/coffee, free water, safe, balcony overlooking pool, power shower.

The pool was fine. Looks a little dated but with comfortable, if older, loungers around. The bar/cafe has a good range of drinks & some meals. There's a useful fridge of stuff for sale eg yoghurt, fruit, biscuits.

Overall, I would have expected this hotel to charge around £95 (US $130) a night. I didn't think it justified the actual cost of £176 (US$238).

BED BUGS AT THE COVE! First pic is a bed bug I saw on my boyfriend’s shirt as we were laying in bed!

We are incredibly bitten up by bed bugs, itchy, down about $700 in hotel fees, and currently trying to find another hotel because of bed bugs at The Cove Hotel in Long Beach, CA.

Sometime between 7-9 a.m. this morning, I noticed what I thought was a bug, scurrying across our bedsheets. I saw it moving, and thought it was lint because once I put my phone’s flashlight on it put, it stopped moving. I brushed it off the bed thinking might have been a one-off.

At approx. 10:06 am, I noticed a bug on my boyfriend’s shirt as we were laying in the bed and I told him. We immediately pulled back the sheets and looked in the bed, and found several other bugs of varying sizes!

My boyfriend went down to the lobby to notify the front desk. Ester, the receptionist, offered a delayed refund, which she said could take up to 7 days, and did not offer other solutions or accommodations, or even acknowledged the inconvenience for that matter. She also said we would need to leave and find another hotel because the hotel was at capacity.

My boyfriend wanted to speak to a manager about the incident. And Ester said the hotel manager does not work on the weekends and will only come in the event of an emergency. She said the only way she could speak to the hotel manager is if she called the police because he can’t be contacted on the weekend and he lives over an hour away.

My boyfriend offered to call the police in order to speak to a manager. Ester ended up calling the police because the hotel manager is “only accessible” on the weekends if the police are called.

At approximately 10:45 a.m. this morning, the police officers arrive. Ester repeated what she said to the officers about not being able to call manager unless the police were called.

HOWEVER, Ester, told the police that she TEXTED the manager about the incident and the manager said to call the police before she called them.

Earlier, she told my boyfriend that she couldn’t contact the manager unless the police were called.

At 11:30 am, we get a checkout receipt from Ester, and ask for documentation of notes that she took about the incident. In her notes, she lied and said that we immediately received our refund, which we have not.

We’re currently driving around Long Beach looking for other accommodations.
Close to bus system, grocery store, and food options. No vehicle needed.

Beautiful room nice atmosphere. All along the best place to stay. You should definitely book a romantic get away here no reason to even leave the property. But if you do... the queen Mary is only 10 min away as well as the aquarium... good stuff.

Out of a 1 to 10 rating I would get it approximately a four. The sheets had not been changed there were little black specks all over them and we found a silverfish bug crawling in our sheets. The location is not good. I absolutely did not feel safe. The pictures online look completely different than the actual property. The one cool thing was at night time from our window we could see the pool and it was lit up with a blue light. Very pretty

We almost tried to cancel because the location seemed so sketchy at first but we were happy we stayed. (Just being honest). Our room was comfy and clean. They have a nice ‘small’ pool with comfy lounge chairs. Inside bar, with good service and drinks but not much for food options. At night they have a comfy outside couch with a propane fire. We enjoyed our stay. Pool was not heated.

The hotel itself was fine... my room was fairly clean (aside from a few gross hairs on the bathroom floor). The staff seemed nice. The hotel is surrounded by a few fast food restaurants and not much else. We were told by a few people that it was a rough area. I foolishly left a couple of expensive items in my closet. I reached out to the hotel the same day to ask that they put them aside for me. By that point, they had already been stolen by the staff. It happens, I guess.... it was my mistake. That said, I confirmed that the incident would be reported to management and they confirmed it would. I didn't receive a call, an apology, an offer for reimbursement, nothing. Again, it happens, but if you're going to stay here, I would strongly advise not leaving anything in your room understanding the "sticky finger" situation.

Me and my partner loved the cove. We received amazing service from Veronica and Nubia. The room was amazing, as well as the pool area and many great lounge chairs and a fire pit. We’ll definitely pick the Cove next time we’re looking for a hotel in Long Beach

Hotel fraudulently or erroneously charged me $70 (from the $250 I had to leave as an incidentals deposit upon check-in) for eating at their restaurant, which I did not do. 8 days later, customer service is still sending "reminders" for the hotel to respond to my dispute. Amazingly unacceptable for such a hotel! Also worrisome that someone can just go into the restaurant, presumably give my room number and get their food charged to my room. Really? Westin doesn't verify the customer before charging the room? Then not respond to my dispute for 8 days (I was told to call back in another 5 days)?

Staff are really nice, can’t fault them, but on the other hand. The rooms are outdated, felt like I was still walking outside from the state of the uncleaned carpet, which is probably from them not hoovering when they clean the room. Bathroom seen better days, bathroom tiles were probably once the colour cream now brown. I come here for business a lot and it’s always like this in numerous of room. Just get better cleaners and invest in a hoover.

Unfortunately, I had a horrible experience with the front desk personnel. Upsetting, to say the least. What happened to common courtesy, respect, name badges, and refreshing experiences at major hotel establishments? I would like to speak directly to a manager about my experience with the hope of respectfully addressing what happened to me this morning as I attempted to 1. Use the ladies room 2. Inquire about spending the next two days in this "potentially" wonderful hotel, but NO!! I would like an apology and to be addressed properly, Ms. Dotson is my name, not "Love."

Went on a trip with my college marching band for the Rose Parade 2025. None of us showed up to this hotel sick in any way, and by the time we left about 1/3 of this band of 200+ people wound up becoming seriously ill. A day or so before we left, we discovered that if you held the sheets up to the light, there was mould inside the sheets, and there was additionally mould on the ceiling of the shower, which I, barely 5’9”, could touch just by standing near it, so it’s not a hard thing to clean. The shower heads themselves were covered in condensation, even after being cleaned by a cleaning person. Additionally, the cleaning people would move things wherever they felt like it. My NyQuil vanished, chargers got unplugged and moved, the bathroom trash bin was taken out of the bathroom and put on the TV stand directly in front of the TV itself. They were supposed to have been prepared for us, as, again, this is a group of 200+ people, but they were sadly very overwhelmed when we appeared together. Thank goodness for the coordinators we had for this entire trip. However, due to their ill preparedness and inaccessible stairwells, about 40 of our bandmates got stuck on the elevators at some point when we’d had an important deadline to make. I tried finding the stairs myself to take them, but this place is set up like a puzzle you were never meant to solve, and the maps aren’t at all helpful. The maps don’t list where the stairs are aside from horrific pictures of what appears to be a shortened ladder, which isn’t even a symbol in the guide and it doesn’t show which way they go, and no clear path to the stairs. The path that I believe led to the stairs read “associates only” which was extremely confusing if that’s where the stairs were. The staff were decent, though the cleaning people started cleaning at like 6pm?? Additionally, I have hyper specific food allergies, and need to ask the ingredients of most things I eat. We were given our own separate food service in the Ocean Ball Room, as 200+ band kids swarming the breakfast area at 6:30am wouldn’t be very practical, and I asked for the ingredients to a cheesecake I was given for a dinner event we had hosted for the band that night. The waiter said he didn’t know the ingredients and would have to ask, and I told him if he could that’d be excellent, and he never returned to tell me the ingredients. Thankfully, I had a small bite to make sure I was good to eat it after having waited for 8 minutes for him to return, even having made eye contact with him as he walked around, and I wasn’t having any reaction. Outside of that I did enjoy the waiters, as they were super friendly to us and very conversational with the band. The door to my room in particular always got stuck when you opened it, and you’d have to force the handle down hard to open it, I even had to put my full body weight on it at some point to get the door unstuck. It’s not that it wouldn’t unlock, it’s that it was stuck. Adding onto the mouldy sheets, a bandmate of mine asked for replacement sheets because theirs were mouldy, and the staff gave them new bedsheets, only for them to also be extremely mouldy. When you look up “mouldy hotel sheets” on Google, most of the results that come up are Westin. As I wasn’t paying for this hotel, I hadn’t seen the price before I came onto this review, but holy it is NOT at all worth that price. The location is nice, there’s bright Christmas lights right across the street, which I’m sure got into some people’s window’s at night, and there’s a good strip of stores and restaurants along this area, but it’s just not at all worth the price listed. Much better off finding a cheaper place, they’ll probably have better quality if I’m being real, even if it’s dirt cheap, that’s how bad this was. I am sick as a dog right now and it’s because they can't properly clean those rooms.

We had a wedding night horror story at the Westin, Long Beach. We had a room block for over 20 guests, but after arriving to the hotel room at the front desk, we were treated like we were trying to cheat them.

Our manager misspelled my wife's Asian last name, making it a completely different last name, and did not correct it on the reservation, despite a request by email. This led to a disaster at the front desk which ruined our night.

I would like the man in the grey suit who was filling in at the front dress to know that it is not appropriate to audit information provided by a bride in her wedding dress in front of her guests. Your tone, actions, and general demeanor was out of line. The front desk is for hospitality, not auditing.

I was informed that he would be provided training after this incident, but I personally feel that if you need to be told this, you do not have the right mindset and should not be allowed to work the front desk. You'll find out the hard way that we're honest people since you apparently really needed to confirm right then and there.

When we were finally helped by a different staff member who was actually kind and helpful. They kept insisting though for a credit card for incidentals for one of our guests despite having given them our credit card that we paid for. I just wanted to get to my room but had one more hiccup because the front door handle was stuck after tapping the keycard - I (male in my 30s) had to kick it since it wouldn't open when I pushed it down with my hand.

We didn't get to enjoy the champagne or chocolate covered strawberries because at this point we were exhausted by this harrowing experience. The manager was very apologetic, got all the facts, comped our room, and acknowledged their mistakes.

The facilities and everything else felt very nice, but we didn't really get to enjoy them. I'm sure they will learn from this experience, but we're only getting married once and we placed our trust in this four star hotel and we were really let down.

Decent hotel to stay at before a cruise! Lobby is very nice and we had the pleasure of having Kasia checking us in. They were so lovely and really hyped up my Marriott status. We also appreciated their restaurant recommendations.

Rooms were spacious and our views were quite nice. Appreciated the free specialty coffee in the morning thanks to Marriott status. The gym looked fine and unfortunately the pool was closed during our stay.

Checked in a bit late at around 4:50p and this hotel request a later check-in at 4pm, which is a bit unusual in general...but what the heck I'm ok with it at any rate. Well it turned out that my room was not ready even as I delayed my check in as I was site seeing in Long Beach, by the aquarium etc. Luckily the attendant was able to accommodate me for my late room service. They were generous and gave me vouchers for their signature breakfast for 2 days, that I was booked to stay. I have to say that breakfast and service there was absolutely spot on. It was delicious. The location is great, very locally to many accommodations and almost walking distance to the Aquarium of the Pacific. Park was a bit tight, but manageable. Over all I have to say it was a good stay and great service in the end!

pon first entering the hotel, I was immediately struck by the beauty of the lobby. Adding to this positive first impression, Tiffani at the front desk greeted me with such warmth and hospitality. She truly made me feel welcome. Tiffani confirmed my 14-day stay and took the time to ensure that all my needs were met. Every day, she checked in to see if I required anything, always attentive and caring.

The rest of the staff were equally amazing—everyone from the bar staff to the concierge was exceptionally friendly. This hotel is truly a wonderful place to stay, and I will definitely be returning. Tiffani set the tone for an excellent experience, and the rest of the team followed suit.
