Edit - I received a really nice response from the general manager, Suzi. She said the droplets on the door were actually coffee (I guess some people drink coffee on the toilet, haha) and made up for our incredibly toasty evening with a refund. The interior of the hotel, while old, is beautiful and comfortable. I would consider staying here again under much colder weather conditions outside.
I stayed here while on a very long road trip. We arrived very late at night after almost 16hrs of driving and were exhausted. When we got to our room and opened the door, it was easily 5 degrees hotter than outside of the room. I looked at the thermostat and while it was set to cool to 70 degrees, it was 78 in the room!
I went into the bathroom and it was EVEN HOTTER in there. It was honestly so bad that you couldn't close the door of the room the toilet was in or you would start sweating like you were in a sauna!
While in the bath room's toilet 'closet' I looked at the door and was horrified to see a bunch of brown droplets all over the right side trim of the door. It looked just like poop. I thought there's no way these were poop stains that never got cleaned - they must be some kind of permanent something on the paint, but sure enough, one swipe with a baby wipe begged to differ... It was definitely fecal matter that never got cleaned up from another guest. 🤢
I let my partner get some sleep (he barely did because it was so hot) and I stayed up all night messing with the AC to try and make it cooler. Eventually it was just better to go sleep in my car where I had AC 😒. The room never dropped below 76 while we were there and had to close all the doors to the bathroom to make that happen. Considering that we arrived at 230am, you'd think the hotel would have ensured we had a properly cool, clean room since we arrived 10hrs after check in, but I guess not.
I tried to reach out to someone at the hotel but the response I got was "Sorry we don't have anyone available at this moment. We will get back to you as soon as possible."
So far, no other response.
