I checked in around 8 or 9 PM, and a skinny male with a very heavy accent assisted me. Unfortunately, he was difficult to understand, which was frustrating given that this is an upscale hotel where clear communication with staff is expected. Don’t get me wrong—I love meeting people from different backgrounds—but something about this man came off the wrong way. He wasn’t as friendly or respectful as you’d expect from hotel staff. There was almost a sense of animosity or jealousy, perhaps because I was renting a nice hotel while he was working on a Saturday night. I know it’s unfortunate, but some people have to work. The GoodThat said, he did accommodate my request for a third-floor room, which was appreciated. Upon entering the hotel, I was very impressed by the lobby—it was beautiful. They have a cozy hangout area with a fireplace, a pool, and a gym. While the gym could use a little love, the rest of the area was very well-maintained. The elevator was extremely nice, and each floor has a phone in the hallway, which is great for emergencies or if you get locked out. The hallways were clean and undamaged, with nice carpeting. Each floor also has an ice machine, which is a nice convenience.Once I got to my room, I was pleased with what I saw. The tap card and NFC scanner on the door worked flawlessly. Inside, the room was clean, with nice carpets and modern lighting fixtures. The bathroom was particularly impressive, featuring beautiful glasswork. The bed was extremely comfortable, with soft pillows and an effective heating and AC system that kept the room at the perfect temperature. One feature I really liked was the long countertops, which are great for working or just keeping things organized. The TV was a bit outdated, but honestly, it still worked fine, so I have no major complaints there. The walls were pretty soundproof, though the ceilings could be a little noisy if someone dropped something above. However, from 10 PM to about 10:30 AM, the hotel was very quiet, so no major issues with noise. The Wi-Fi login process was a bit annoying, as they asked for a lot of unnecessary information that felt like an invasion of privacy. However, once filled out, it worked. That said, I think I mistyped something, so I just used my hotspot instead, which worked flawlessly.Another great feature was the mini fridge and microwave, which worked perfectly. The fridge even managed to freeze a water bottle, which was impressive. The microwave popped my popcorn with no issues at all. There were plenty of clothes hangers, a hairdryer, and no cheap materials—everything felt high-quality. The blackout curtains were effective, blocking about 80% of the light, which is decent. The Bad & The UglyThe biggest downside was the front desk experience. The staff member’s attitude and lack of friendliness left a bad first impression. Whether it was jealousy or just a bad night, it wasn’t the level of service I expected from a Hilton property.Another minor annoyance was the $3 water bottles placed in the room. If you’re not careful, you’ll be charged for them, so avoid drinking the water unless you’re okay with the cost.Final VerdictDespite those two issues, this is a phenomenal place to stay. I’ve stayed at another hotel in Schaumburg, and this one was far superior. Keep in mind—I’m a very, very picky reviewer, and I still give this place a solid 4 to 5 stars. If Hilton improves the customer service experience at check-in and makes the Wi-Fi login process simpler, this would easily be a 5-star stay.Would I return? Absolutely.
