My husband and I stayed one night at the Westin Memphis during a quick visit with family. The hotel was in a prime location just off Beale Street and across from the FedEx Forum. In spite of an event at the Forum, valet parking was top-notch at check in and check out. The staff were genuinely friendly and engaging across the board, from Rico at the front desk to every single valet. We were traveling with our dog, and the staff were equally welcoming to him, as well.We ordered breakfast in the room, which was complimentary due to our Marriott status. This is exceptional as most properties only comp breakfast in the restaurant. It was especially nice as the restaurant was crowded with athletes from the event across the street! The food was slow, as we expected based on the occupancy, but it was delicious and the person who took our order was conscientious and kind. Like I mentioned, EVERYONE was lovely. As Marriott platinum members, we received a suite night upgrade to a one bedroom suite. The room was clean and spacious. The decor was updated and the bed was super clean and comfortable. I gave the room four stars because of a couple of minor issues. The curtains and blinds are electronically controlled, which is great, but only if they work flawlessly. The installation was sloppy and wires blocked the tracks, preventing the curtains from closing. I was able to stand on the desk and move the wires, enabling the curtains to close. Luckily I’m a petite woman, since the desk has a glass top. The other minor issue was the dated bathrooms. They were clean, but didn’t keep up with the other decor in the room.We stay at a lot of Marriott properties around the world, but few warrant this type of glowing review. The employees make all the difference! We thank every one who made our stay remarkable! This will be our preferred hotel in Memphis for future visits.
