A Frustrating and Unprofessional ExperienceI am deeply disappointed by my recent experiences. I have stayed at this property over 10 times since 2021, coming from over 200 miles away for business and leisure. In the past, I appreciated the caring staff, especially Thomas and the kitchen team, who went above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. While the hotel itself may not be the most luxurious, their kindness and flexibility always stood out.Unfortunately, my experience in late 2023 and beyond has been drastically different. The once accommodating and friendly front desk staff has been replaced by individuals who seem unprofessional and unwilling to assist guests. For instance, I had previously been allowed early check-in as a Gold Choice Hotels member on multiple occasions, and I always showed gratitude with tips for the housekeeping staff. However, during a more recent stay, I was met with hostility when requesting an early check-in, even offering to pay the standard fee. I was initially denied and eventually allowed to check in, but only after escalating to management—a situation that was blown out of proportion unnecessarily. To add to my frustration, during my stay in August 2024, my room reeked of marijuana. When I brought this to the staff’s attention, they merely offered to spray air freshener, stating it was the only whirlpool suite available. Despite this, I checked out with no issues, received my bill, and assumed all was well. Imagine my shock when, months later on Christmas morning, I was informed my reservation would be canceled due to being placed on the "Do Not Rent" (DNR) list without any prior explanation. The reasons given for my placement on this list were baseless and contradictory. I was accused of being "aggressive," a claim I firmly deny, as I always remained respectful, even when expressing concerns. Adding insult to injury, the staff misled me, instructing me to contact the Eaton County Police Department to resolve the issue, wasting valuable resources. The police were understandably confused, as they had no knowledge of any involvement with this matter. To make matters worse, I was told I could not stay at any hotels in Eaton County—another blatant falsehood, as I am currently writing this review from a different hotel in the area. What upsets me the most is not just the unprofessionalism, but the lack of respect and accountability from the staff and management. As a loyal guest who has supported this property for years, I feel completely blindsided by the treatment I’ve received. Based on this experience and similar reviews I’ve read from other guests, it’s clear there are systemic issues here that need urgent attention.I hope management reflects on this review and makes the necessary changes to restore the level of professionalism and courtesy that once made this hotel worth visiting. Until then, I caution anyone who values respect, friendliness, and attentiveness to think twice before booking here.

The furnace was so loud when it shut off that we thought someone was trying to break in! We ended up just shutting it off.The furnace didn't even work in my sister in laws room, but they ended up getting a new room.

My experience at this establishment was deeply disappointing. From the general manager to the employees, I encountered behavior that felt unacceptably biased and discriminatory. I expected professionalism and fairness, but what I experienced instead was outright incompetence and disrespect. The lack of cleanliness is another major concern. The premises were poorly maintained, and it was alarming to notice bugs in the facility. This is not only unhygienic but also unacceptable for any business that expects customers to return or recommend their services. On top of these issues, the staff seemed ill-trained and unprofessional, making basic tasks unnecessarily difficult. This compounded the already frustrating environment created by the poor attitudes and lack of accountability displayed by those in charge.I would strongly advise others to think twice before visiting this location. My experience suggests a culture of disregard for both customers and basic standards of decency. It’s crucial for management to take responsibility and implement significant changes, both in their staff training and in the upkeep of their establishment. Until then, I cannot recommend this business to anyone who values respect, professionalism, and cleanliness.

I've stayed at this hotel three times while on business trips. It is nice and quiet, the beds are super comfy, and all staff I've interacted with have been friendly. It's nothing outrageously luxurious, but it is clean and well-maintained. The hot breakfast is a nice touch.

Large, clean, and quite rooms. Comfortable beds. Staff is helpful and friendly. Breakfast gets a D-. Best Western, Holiday Inn and other budget hotels know how to put on a "hot" breakfast. When Quality Inn say "we ran out of...", please know that this is a BIG problem and don't expect to have a good breakfast. Choice Hotels has definitely taken its eye off the ball in this location.

Stayed on a Friday night while attending an event in the area. Easy access off the highway. Lots of amenities nearby. Staff were very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. Hotel is clean and looks recently updated in a lot of areas. Open concept with the hallways having open access to the ground floor.Stayed in a room with two double beds. Sitting area with couch was clean and offered a coffee maker and fridge along with the usual desk, table, etc. Room was clean with comfortable beds. My reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was because of some things in the room such as the tv being noticeably small, the AC unit making quite a bit of noise especially when it kicked in, and the smaller square pillows for the bed. Also noticed the fan in the bathroom was extremely loud and blew out warm air.All this aside, I would consider staying here again if I was in the area based on the price and the overall experience.

Great location but the hotel had lots of improvements needed. The carpets were stained in the hallways. My bed sagged in the middle and it’s clear they don’t flip or rotate the mattresses often. The bathroom door wouldn’t close and when we reported it to the desk nothing was done to fix it. The plugs in the room were loose and made it a challenge to plug in phones to charge. The elevator and hallways often smelled of weed and it was less than pleasant. The furniture in the breakfast area looked like it was at least a year passed needing to be replaced.I’d suggest paying a few dollars more and go elsewhere.

My basement flooded and it turns out I needed a little more work done to the plumbing than expected. I got online with no preference of where to stay and ended up at the Comfort Inn, West Lansing. It was a good choice. Sam is great. He is very helpful. He is constantly running around helping guests or attending to the needs of the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel. Great stay for the price and the staff is very helpful and friendly. It is clean and you will not beat the breakfast they offer. Give them a call and ask for Sam. He will get you situated.

This hotel has gone down hill over the last couple of years. The equipment used in the rooms bearly work. The "on the surface" clean is all you get. The location is great. There is all kinds of great shopping and places to eat around here. The location isn't following many of the Choice Standards. I say that with 100% certainty because I worked for Choice for 4 years just a year ago I left. Things haven't lighten up that much in a year.

I've often stayed at COMFORT INN, over the years, all over the country for DECADES.Since this specific location became "PET FRIENDLY," It's gone down in its cleanliness significantly.I don't/won't have pets of any sort.Primarily because of the feces, urine, and other EXCRETED fluids from orifices such as the eyes, mouth, blood from females in heat, the food, PLUS, their feet! All of these FLUIDS that carry GERMS and smells that are virtually IMPOSSIBLE, or too EXPENSIVE, and/ time consuming to ELIMINATE; they leave a smell REGARDLESS, and no matter what OR how much you clean and disinfect; the animals scent become UBIQUITOUS within the areas they inhabit.I can appreciate the embrace and love of animals and pets, but those aspects mentioned far outweigh the reward. It's NOT a good balance for me.I prefer as much of a clean environment as I can for my personal space and/or dwelling. Most EVERYTHING is already TOXIC and seriously concerning! Why add to it?NO THANKS; I'll pass the hotel that is "PET FRIENDLY" the next time!

Room was SO DIRTY! There were stains on the wall, dirty/stained sheets. Door handles and remote were sticky. The microwave looked like it had not been cleaned in a month- could not use at all. Gross. Countertop in bathroom was grimy feeling. Luckily I run a cleaning business and had antibacterial cleaners in my vehicle. Disinfected the room and felt OK about staying. Also had to lay my own blanket over the bed to sleep. Pool and hot tub were nice, breakfast was good. The room was just unacceptable. Would NOT recommend at all.
