We were very excited for this weekend celebrating my wife's birthday. I am pleased to say that everything went exceedingly well, everything except our 21c experience.
Upon checking in, we were informed that Sunday we would not be able to access our vehicle before 11:00 a.m. apparently this was due to a marathon that was taking place. Nothing was mentioned on the website or during booking. It turns out, that the parking garage they use around the corner was affected, but there was no way to know until check in which was too late.
Next, the room was lackluster. The glass enclosed shower that was described on the website was nothing more than a shower with a sliding plastic shower curtain. The fantastic picture of the room having a loveseat at the end of the bed was a poor representation of the actual room which barely had enough room to walk between the end of the bed and the TV stand. Finally, the windows at the far end of the room opened for a lovely view of an unfinished rooftop.
For dinner Friday we had made reservations at the on-site restaurant, Metropole. We were greeted and seated promptly which gave us great expectations for the dinner. However, once it was determined that we were not going to the ballet, we watched other tables come get served and leave before we actually received our meal. Our server Jeff was fantastic, but even he commented that the kitchen staff was not on their game.
Saturday morning we decided to try our luck with the brunch offering. Once again we received it quickly, but this time our food arrived quickly as well. That said, our waitress disappeared entirely. We ended up having to snag someone else to finish our meal, and pay our bill. It would seem that we had the server from the night before that would have been the high point of our stay.
Saturday night I had made reservations for another restaurant in the area. After a fantastic dinner and a wonderful experience, we arrived back at the hotel to find a large gathering of what appeared to be kids attending a problem of some sort. Most if not all did not appear to be staying at the hotel, just using the lobby for pictures. It was so congested that we had to push our way through people to get into the lobby, then the elevator, to ultimately go to our room. When my wife had mentioned to the hotel employee that we wish we had known about this in advance, he replied "Me too."
Upon check out we were asking the customary question as to how our stay was. When we provided the same information that is here, we got a simple and short "I'm sorry to hear that." No effort to speak with a manager, or anything of the like.
We spent nearly $1,000 per night for this hotel. At this price point everything should have been convenient, and easy. There should have been very little intrusion into our otherwise perfect weekend. I cannot express how sorely disappointed we are with this experience.
UPDATE:
I received an email from Director of Rooms Blen Metzger addressing our concerns. We are currently in communication to that end. I look forward to updating this review.
