You make it to Rapid City and the Black Hills. Does it get any better than that? Yes, it does, if you’re staying at Summer Creek Inn. We’ve stayed there twice. It’s not an exaggeration to say we go back for the breakfast. One morning a souffle, fresh fruit, and roasted whitefish (a triumph!). Another morning fresh fruit, souffle, and French toast with mascarpone filling (to die for!). Nancy is skilled and inventive and reports that she has many French toast recipes and other delights up her sleeve. And I believe her. The grounds, Dan’s work of art, consist of a spacious patio, rock garden, and waterfall. Weather permitting (above 60 degrees) you’ll have breakfast outside. And the rooms: immaculate, tastefully appointed. The house is spacious. There’s plenty of sitting space where you can rest your bones after a day of sight-seeing. Got questions? They’ve got answers–where to go, when to go, how to get there. So, location is another plus. Easy access to all the important historical sites in the area. Stay here. Summer Creek Inn is simply the best.
